You might wonder what all those people are doing walking slowly up the beach from Bracklesham towards Selsey, looking at the ground. They have either lost their car keys or they are fossil hunters. Bracklesham Bay is an amazing place to find fossils, you may be forgiven for thinking that all those shells on the beach are from today, but in fact a lot of them are 40-45 million years old (from the geological Eocene age).

Sailing trips back in time are now on offer from the harbourside village of Emsworth. This summer the public can experience sailing on Terror, a boat steeped in history that has been sailing in local waters for over a 100 years.
Terror is the last remaining boat from the Emsworth oyster fleet. In the 1800s this successful fleet brought thousands of tons of oysters ashore for sale locally and to London. Terror was built in Emsworth and was specially designed for the local waters and her particular job.
