Mellow Wave

X-Train Academy
X-train is the tuition arm of West Wittering Windsurfing Club set up by Simon Bassett who owns 2XS and the Windsurf Club.
Our mission is to make sure you learn fast and succeed in a safe and fun environment. We believe you need tuition at all levels to progress and, with our shallow tidal lagoon and experienced instructors, this is the place to get it.
The Clubhouse
In 2005 we opened our brand new club house at West Wittering beach so we can now offer you the best of everything. The best showers and club facilities, the best tuition, the best kit and WiFi if your in ‘a meeting’
and need to check those emails.
The beach
We are in the privileged position of being the only golden, sandy beach on the south coast. Set in the private, well managed West Wittering Estate, it is the perfect setting. At low tide we teach in the waist deep lagoon sheltered by the sand bars. At mid tide you experience chop and
high tide brings waves.
Hire
At the beach we have the latest equipment for hire which includes
windsurfing kit (both adults and kids), kayaks, paddleboards, surfboards, bodyboards, skimboards & wetsuits. For a full list and prices

Simon has been involved in tuition since the mid eighties and worked as a coach and advanced instructor in Tarifa, Greece and in the UK. Simon has been windsurfing since 1976 and competed in national and International speed sailing events. He was also a member of the Mistral/Carlsberg windsurfing team as well as test editor for Windsurf and Onboard magazines. He has also worked with manufacturers developing and testing equipment. Recently Simon has also been involved in Stand Up Paddlesurfing since 2006 and has been instrumental in promoting the sport in the UK.

X-train was one of the first schools to start teaching SUP riding and has been featured on BBC News and in The Observer, London Lite, Metro, The Times, Etc Magazine and Brighton Argos.
