As you may know the Primary Care Trust (who effectively run Health Care in West Sussex) has voted to downgrade St Richards hospital, moving acute accident and emergency and maternity functions to Worthing or Portsmouth hospitals. As anyone who lives on or around Bracklesham Bay knows, this will mean hospital emergency jouneys will now take up to an hour, instead of minutes. There is now an e-petition to Save St Richards on the 10 Downing Street website - we encourage you all to sign before our health care is taken away by an unelected body, and a flawed process (most of the PCT board live in the Worthing area). E-Petition to Save St Richards Hospital Please also see this website Support St Richards for up to date information on the campaign to prevent the down grading. |

Welcome to the daily surf and wind report for 4th July 2008. Everyday I go to the beach and take a picture of the conditions. I try and do this before 9.00am, but sometimes I need a lie in (or I am out surfing having forgotten the camera). The surf is always better the closer it gets to high tide. 2-3 hours before high tide usually is the best time. Click below to read the latest report. |

Bracklesham Bay is an amazing place to find fossils, you may be forgiven for thinking that all those shells on the beach are from today, but in fact a lot of them are 40-45 million years old (from the geological Eocene age).

A good weekend was had at West Wittering for the GONG and 2XS first round competition of the 2008 series. The swell was small on saturday, but that did not stop Patrice Guénolé from throwing 360's and nose sides, with a few drop knee turns thrown in for good measure.
The first distance race started at 10.30am and was a punishing trianglular course, with a relatively easy downtide first leg then a hard leg against the tide and a final leg against the wind ! |
