The library service provides various activities for young people of all ages. At East Wittering library on the last Thursday of each month, at 10.30am, there is Baby Rhyme Time for 0-3 years old children.
At Chichester library in Tower Street there is Story Time for slightly older children [3-5yrs approx] every Thursday from 10-10.30am and the same at Selsey library (School Lane, Selsey) every Tuesday from 10.30-11am.
There is a Summer Reading Game, “Team Read”, hosted by all the libraries where children aged 4-12 are encouraged to read a number of books over the summer holidays and they receive stickers and activity sheets to help them along the way, with a certificate and medal for those who complete the challenge! We are informed that there is also a similar scheme for the younger children, called Baby Bookcrawl, details of which are yet to be released by the libraries. Visit the library services website to find out more.
East Wittering library is a friendly village library with computer and fax facilities and a lovely children’s area with a children’s computer. Children can play with some toys whilst you help them look for books and the books for younger children are helpfully arranged in sturdy wooden low tables that all the children can reach. Also, there is usually a box of books for sale, which the library has withdrawn from loan – these are always worth browsing through! There is a selection of DVDs and videos of popular films and TV series etc.
